Howdy! I’m Nathan!

I really love making games! I’ve been making games my whole life as projects for classes in school then graduating from Indiana University with a degree in Game Design. I spent 5 years after college living in Japan. I learned Japanese and had the opportunity to create educational table-top games for one of my companies. One of the big perks of learning Japanese has been playing Japanese-only games and seeing their unique designs.

I’m currently working with Lost Native creating Wild Country, a digital city-building card game. Check it out below!

How I Design

Research

Anytime I get a design story, I immediately gather as many references as I can. I take notes, highlight the good, and give myself the best opportunity to create something amazing.

Create

Once I get all my research finished, I head over to my whiteboard or Miro and start brainstorming. I create mockups, write documentation, and chat with other teams to get the designs in-game.

Play

After the designs are in-game it’s time to play! I test and tweak my designs over and over again until they feel good enough to send to our daily playtest sessions. I gather feedback from those sessions and continue iterating.

Projects

Here are some glimpses into games that I have either helped make or made myself. The more descript pages are still in progress so please be patient.
